Havening Techniques™:

The information contained on this website and accompanying blog is educational in nature and is provided only as general information and is not medical or psychological advice.

You understand by viewing this website you will also be introduced to the Havening Techniques (“HT”), an innovative healing approach developed and created by Ronald Ruden, MD, PhD in collaboration with his brother Steven Ruden, DDS. HT can be described as a type of psychosensory therapy based on the fields of neuroscience and neurobiology which uses sensory input in order to alter thought, mood, and behavior. It is believed that when an event or experience is perceived as traumatic or stressful it becomes immutably encoded in the psyche and the body, often with life altering consequences. HT is designed to make changes in the brain in order to de-traumatize and remove from both the psyche and the body the emotional memory of a traumatic or stressful life event and its negative effects. Therefore, HT is a healing modality that is designed to help individuals overcome problems that are the consequence of traumatic or stressful encoding. HT is comprised of protocols which includes human touch as a therapeutic tool identified as Havening Touch®.

HT has three (3) distinct applications, one is for emotional disturbances, second is for wellness, stress management, and peak performance, and the third is as a self-help tool. Therefore, HT can be used within a psychotherapeutic setting with professional mental health care clinicians that have been fully trained and certified in HT. In addition, HT can be used by non-licensed practitioners as a protocol for coaching sessions, or as a tool in an allied health care practice by individuals that have been fully trained and certified in HT. HT can also be used as a self-help technique and shared with family members and friends.

Although HT appears to have promising emotional, mental, and physical health benefits, HT has yet to be fully researched by the Western academic, medical, and psychological communities and, therefore may be considered experimental. HT is self-regulated and is considered alternative or complementary to the healing arts that are licensed in the UK.

The information presented on this website about HT is not intended to create, and does not constitute any professional relationship between either Ronald Ruden, MD, PhD, Max Kirsten and the visitor and should not be relied upon as medical, psychological, coaching, or other professional advice of any kind or nature whatsoever. Hypnotherapy should be used in conjunction with, and not as a replacement for any conventional medical treatment that you may be receiving. As Hypnotherapy can slow the heart beat down, we suggest that if you suffer with low blood pressure, you should check with your doctor or licensed medical practitioner before using Hypnotherapy or Self-Hypnosis.

Also pregnant women from their first trimester and 2nd trimester should check with your doctor or licensed medical practitioner for approval before using Hypnotherapy or Self-Hypnosis, 3rd trimester still fine but still with with doctor or licensed medical practitioner approval. Hypnosis and hypnotherapy are considered as a safe and natural therapy – hence Hypnosis for birthing is often used as the modality of choice with many expectant mothers.

In addition, however we do not recommend any of these recordings with Binaural-Beats or Brainwave Entrainment for pregnant women. We do consider them safe, however we suggest not to use if pregnant simply because there has not yet been enough medical research in this area to make an informed decision.

Why Are Binaural Beats Deemed Unsafe For Pregnant Women?

There is no reasoning behind this. And there is no evidence that suggests that binaural beats are dangerous for pregnant women. Period. There has never been a case of a negatively affected pregnancy linked to brainwave entrainment of any kind. We believe that it’s physically impossible for a foetus to be negatively affected in any way by a pregnant woman listening to frequencies in this way.

The reason we “don’t recommend” binaural beats to pregnant women is because this natural science is yet to be evaluated by the Food and Drug Administration (FDA). So in short, we need to protect ourselves against getting sued by pregnant woman who might claim that an unrelated pregnancy problem was related to listening to binaural beats. In my opinion the Theta, Alpha and Delta binaural beats recordings do the world of good for pregnant women.

However we have to say that we “don’t recommend” binaural beats during pregnancy to legally protect ourselves in light of a pending FDA evaluation. But as we know, all binaural beats do is mirror brain states and produce brainwaves that we naturally produce anyway. So how can this possibly be harmful to you or your baby?

So after all of this… if in doubt, please consult your doctor or licensed medical practitioner. *Please read the positive outcome review from Julia on my IVF Fertility page.

These hypnotic recordings are however *contra-indicated if you are being medically treated for clinical depression, seizures or epilepsy. If in doubt please consult your doctor.
